BLOOD DONATION PROCEDURE

1. The donor journey begins with checking the donor's data against the existing donor database. After that, the donor's personal data is registered in the required questionnaires.

2. After registration, the donor fills out a medical questionnaire, where he answers questions about his health and lifestyle.

The donor must answer these questions correctly in order to protect his own health and the health of the person receiving this blood. Any personal information provided by the donor remains confidential and will not be used for other purposes.

3. Then the donor visits the laboratory, where the hemoglobin level and preliminary blood group of the donor are determined from one drop of blood taken from a finger.

4. The next step is to see a doctor. This step is decisive, since right now the doctor is deciding whether the donor can be allowed to donate blood or not. This decision is made based on the results of the analysis received from the laboratory, the answers from the medical questionnaire completed by the donor, as well as the general condition of the donor at the time of the examination, i.e. indicators of A / D, pulse, weight, temperature. Guided by the condition of the donor and the needs of the hospital, the doctor prescribes giving either whole blood or its components

5. After admission to the blood supply, the donor will be offered to drink fluid to replenish the forthcoming fluid loss.

We remind you that during all medical procedures, only DISPOSABLE instruments are used, so it is impossible to get infected with any diseases.

6. The blood donation procedure itself is very simple

The donor will be offered to sit comfortably in the donor chair. After the skin is cleaned, the nurse will insert a sterile needle into the vein. Donating blood usually takes about 10 minutes. After blood donation, a bandage is applied to the donor, which is not recommended to be removed within 2 hours. Also during the day, the donor should avoid physical exertion.

7. After donation, the donor remains in the blood center for 10-15 minutes and receives light food.

This is how each of us, having spent only 1 hour of our time and having walked only seven steps to the donor chair, can take part in saving someone's life. You may not know the people your blood helped, but that doesn't matter. The main thing is that they are healthy!
